When it comes to mental health and emotional well-being, holistic therapy recognises the undeniable link between body and mind, and uses this approach to support healing. Unlike traditional therapy models that may focus primarily on cognitive or behavioural aspects, holistic therapy integrates various modalities to promote overall well-being that takes all contributing factors into consideration.

The Core Principles of Holistic Therapy

Holistic therapy views individuals as whole beings, recognising that emotional distress, trauma, and mental health struggles often manifest in physical and energetic ways. This approach seeks to treat the root cause of an issue rather than just managing symptoms.

Holistic therapy often incorporates:

  • Traditional psychotherapy – Talk therapy, cognitive-behavioural techniques, and trauma-informed approaches, like parts work and EMDR

  • Mindfulness and meditation – Techniques to cultivate self-awareness and emotional regulation.

  • Somatic therapy – Addressing trauma stored in the body through movement, breathwork, or body-based practices like yoga

  • Nutritional and lifestyle counselling – Recognising the impact of diet, sleep, and movement on mental health.

Who Can Benefit from Holistic Therapy?

Holistic therapy is particularly beneficial for individuals seeking a deeper connection between mental and physical health. It can help those dealing with:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Relationship struggles

  • Chronic stress and burnout

  • ADHD and emotional regulation difficulties

This approach is especially useful for people who have tried traditional therapy but feel they need a more integrative or spiritual approach to healing.

How Holistic Therapy Works in Practice

Holistic therapy is tailored to each individual's unique needs, integrating various healing techniques to create a personalised approach. This may include:

  1. Identifying Core Issues – Exploring past experiences, emotional patterns, and underlying trauma.

  2. Incorporating Body-Based Techniques – Breathwork, movement therapy, somatic work, or yoga to release stored emotions and calm the nervous system.

  3. Mindfulness and Self-Compassion – Developing daily practices to foster inner peace and emotional balance.

  4. Creating a Lifestyle Plan – Supporting mental health through diet, sleep, and exercise recommendations.

Holistic Therapy and Trauma Healing

Many people find holistic therapy particularly beneficial for trauma recovery. Trauma is not just stored in the mind—it also affects the nervous system and body. Holistic therapy offers tools to gently process trauma without re-traumatisation, using a combination of EMDR, somatic practices, and mindfulness to promote deep healing. This is a particularly safe and effective way to address childhood trauma and sexual abuse.

Why Choose Holistic Therapy?

If you're looking for a therapy experience that goes beyond traditional talk therapy, holistic therapy may be the right fit. This method recognises that healing is multi-dimensional and aims to empower individuals to reconnect with their authentic selves ✨

Holistic therapy provides a compassionate, integrative space for healing, helping clients move toward a balanced, empowered, and fulfilled life.

My Approach to Holistic Therapy

To me it makes little sense to focus solely on the mind when dealing with mental health, or simply the physical body when dealing with illness. Our minds and bodies are linked and influence other, and it is very clear, both through research findings and what we notice in ourselves, that looking after our bodies increases wellbeing and vice versa.

Using my extensive training and experience in modalities like attachment-informed EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), breathwork, yoga, meditation, Emotional Freedom Technique (tapping), hypnotherapy, and CBT, my approach to treating trauma for intensive healing is an integrative one. My goal is to support clients in uncovering the root causes of emotional distress, while providing tools to regulate the nervous system, process trauma, and build emotional resilience.

Whether you are seeking deep trauma healing, emotional balance, or a more connected and mindful way of living, I will tailor each session to meet your unique needs and goals.
